Buying a House

Last Thursday I was riding by a house in Island City and saw a new for sale sign going up. We looked at the house that day. We put an offer in yesterday for 15000 less than asking plus an additional 5000 towards closing to be paid by them. THEY ACCEPTED!!!!! We figured they would counter and were prepared to go up a little bit...Yahoo! We will hopefully close the last week in April and move shortly after that. Hopefully I can get some pictures up soon.

Crummy Week!

Doug has always been a pessimist. Sometimes I get drug down to his level of thinking.... even worse, sometimes I just can't climb myself back to happy and optomistic. Unfortunately this is one of those times. Two weeks ago we found a house that we thought we wanted to buy here in La Grande. Up to this point we haven't even tried to get financed because our house hadn't sold in Idaho. Well we liked this one enough to see what the bank would finance us for. So I went to our new credit union to fill out loan papers....
this started a chain of crappy events that has me thinking that Doug is correct. People suck and the world is out to get you..


*The mortgage broker lost our file....
* The first person that called us said he was doing our file (wednesday).
* Thursday waited for a call that never came, even though he said he would.
* Friday morning talked to a woman in the same office who said he (the guy) would call us by 3pm with an answer
* Friday afternoon call never comes, I call him, they are both out of the office (early) and when I call his cell he says he never had our file (lie).
*Saturday i get a call in the middle of sleeping where the woman (who had said friday she didn't have our file) asks all the basic questions I had already filled out on the app. like name, ss#, where we work...before I ask where our file got put since neither of them have it and obviously no one has looked at it all week despite my calls. She finds it in 10 min of searching... and finally 2 hrs later gives us an approval on a saturday afternoon
* Monday 9 am fill out an offer for 6,000 less than asking price
* our realtor calls their realtor and says she has an offer to present to the seller, realtor say No! that the sellers don't want other realtors to present offers, just her (hmmmm...why wouldn't the seller want to see the offer asap or talk to the buyers realtor??????) so the offer is faxed despite the objections of our realtor
* Tues morning our offer is denied. no counter offer and sellers realtor refused to tell ours the selling price. just says there was multiple offers but no other information.
Shady????? Hell yes! Is there anything we can do about it? Nope, not according to our realtor. Unethical yes, illegal no. Or at least nothing we can prove is illegal.
Crappy mortgage broker + crappy un-ethical realtor = no house for Autumn and Doug!!!!
